"Last Train to London"

I was thinking about "Last Train to London" yester-day and had a realization about the line "But I really want tonight to last forever."  It's sung to a melody something like this:

The note values at the end of the phrase (predominately quarter notes) are longer than those at the beginning (eighth notes), and this sort of elongation hints at the duration of "last[ing] forever."

Additionally, the quarter notes at the end occur on upbeats, and this placement against the beat provides a sense of the tension or striving involved in "really want."
